Subaru XV gets facelift  08 | 02 | 2016

SUBARU HAS GIVEN its XV crossover a facelift for 2016. The update focuses on tweaks to the engines, chassis and interior and exterior styling. The 2016 model — which go on-sale in Scotland on March 1, with prices remaining unchanged from the previous XV — also benefits from an improved infotainment system.

You do need to look closely though to see the subtle external changes. In addition to a new lower grille and minor bumper treatment, there's new metal-tone front foglight surrounds and tweaks to the headlight clusters.

The most noticeable immediate difference is the addition of diamond-cut black and silver alloy wheels: and just for good measure, new paint colours have also been added.

Apart from a revised LED tail-lights and tweaked boot spoiler, the rear remains largely unaltered.

Inside the cabin, the most notable upgrade is a new steering wheel. Oh, and you'll also spot there's less black plastic, having been replaced by new metallic trim.

The 2016 XV also benefits from voice control allowing navigation and climate control settings to be changed using voice commands, alongside full connectivity for iPhone users.

According to Subaru, the chassis upgrades  improve the ride and grip of the XV.

Under the bonnet, the updates have improved fuel economy, with the 2.0-litre petrol returning 43.5mpg at the pumps, with 151g/km CO2 when equipped with Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT transmission.

The 2.0-litre turbodiesel now returns 52.3mpg, with emissions falling by 5g/km to 141g/km.
