Kia reveals 2017 Rio in sketches 24 | 08 | 2016

THIS IS OUR first look at official sketches for the new Kia Rio, which will make its full debut at the Paris Motor Show in September.

The new supermini confirms the Rio will have a more sporty look, enhance by its lower, wider stance and a new version of the Kia 'Tiger Nose' grille design that stretches out to touch the headlights.

And while the lower grille seems much bigger than previously, and the bonnet longer, the headlights have a slimmer look and are angled downwards; the result is a distinctive light signature.

Sitting on a longer wheelbase than the current Rio, the newcomer has a sportier edge to it, further boosted by its sculpted doors, higher shoulderline and large alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin — at least, according to the sketch — there’s a simplified dashboard with few buttons and dials. There’s also the now obligatory large display screen for the infotainment system.

We think it’s also fair to assume the new Kia — which enters production at the end of the year, and is expected in Scottish showrooms 2017 starting around £11,000 — will feature the latest connectivity features, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
