Vettel's Infiniti FX50 S to cost £100k 11 | 05 | 2012

FANCY GETTING A TASTE of Formula One? Well Inifiniti has confirmed the special edition FX50 S, built to celebrate Sebastian Vettel's two world championships, will set you back in excess of £100,000.

Only 50 of the limited editions will be available across the whole of Europe, where it will cost 120,000 euros, and how many will actually make their way to the UK is unknown at the moment. Infiniti — which sponsors Vettel's Red Bull F1 team —is waiting to see what the interest is.

The 24-year-old German, in Barcelona for this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix and who has been directly involved in the car's development, has already placed his order — not surprisingly, he's getting No1 — and another eight orders have been placed in Europe.

Production of the Vettel FX50 S will start in October, with first deliveries due early next year. Infiniti has confirmed the car will remain true to the concept which was shown in Frankfurt last year. The only alteration will be a switch from matt white paint to pearlescent white paint.

Power will come from a 414bhp 5.0-litre V8 and the car, which has a carbonfibre bodykit designed by the Red Bull F1 team producing downforce and lowering drag by 5%, will have a top speed of 186mph.
