New Subaru BRZ to cost £24,995 02 | 05 | 2012

SUBARU HAS SURPRISED the motoring world by confirming its all-new BRZ will cost from £24,995 – exactly the same as its sister car, the Toyota GT 86 – when it goes on sale in Scotland in the summer.

It has always been expected the Subaru would carry a price premium over the GT 86.

Available in two trim levels – 2.0i SE and 2.0i SE Lux — the BRZ will be available in a choice of six colours: Satin White Pearl, Sterling Silver Metallic, Dark Grey Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, San Remo Red, and WR Blue Mica.

The BRZ includes a six-speed manual gearbox (the six-speed automatic with paddle shift operation is available for an extra £1500), a limited slip differential and 17in alloys as standard on the SE.

The cabin gets air-con, cruise control, electric folding and heated door mirrors, push-button engine start, leather-trimmed steering wheel and iPod connectivity. Step up to the SE Lux, and you get heated leather seats thrown in as an extra. However, if you want the optional sat-nav system, that'll set you back an aditional £1000.

It's expected that a cheaper, more basic S-spec BRZ model will be launched next year.

“Early demand is strong," Subaru UK marketing director, Kenyon Neads, said, "so we fully expect some early customers will have to wait some months for delivery, especially during 2012, but we have no doubt they will agree it will be worth the wait.”
