Ford shows off new Fiesta ST 06 | 03 | 2012

THIS IS THE NEW Ford Fiesta ST. Shown in Geneva for the first time in production guise, the three-door, front-drive Fiesta ST is capable of hitting 136mph. It's due to arrive in Scottish showrooms, priced around £18,000, in the first half of 2013 (see more official photos of the new Ford Fiesta ST).

Power comes from Ford’s 1.6-litre EcoBoost turbocharged engine that’s tuned to deliver 178bhp. That results in a 0-62mph time of under 7secs: a full second quicker than the previous Fiesta ST.

The new model is also cleaner. Ford claims the new model will produce 20% less CO2 emissions of aroun 142g/km.

Developed by Ford’s Team RS, the new Fiesta ST sits 15mm lower than a standard Fiesta by dint of its specially tuned chassis.

Inside the cabin there's Recaro seats, while externally the Fiesta ST will be available with a choice of five colours, including Race Red, Performance Blue and Molten Orange.

Cleverly, the new model will also feature Ford’s ‘MyKey’ tech, which allows performance to be limited depending on driver.
