VW scraps £99 lease plan for up! 09 | 01 | 2012

DISAPPOINTINGLY, VW HAS PULLED the plug on its planned £99/month lease deal for the stonking wee up!

While the rest of Europe enjoys a 95€ per month special lease deal — equivalent to £75 per month — VW bosses in the UK have decided not to go ahead with a similar plan in the UK, where the figure was expected to be £99/month.

"We don’t feel we really need to offer this sort of deal because we are going to be able to sell our relatively small allocation of Ups without it," VW bosses said.

Instead, the company — which is expecting around 8000 up! models after its launch in April — will instead opt for a more conventional finance package.

It's understood the UK's '£99 driveway lease deal' was set to be announced late last year, but was pulled at the last minute.

The 95€ deal — which is already in place In mainland Europe, and includes roadside assistance and warranty, and doesn't require a deposit — is targeted at young drivers, many of whom haven't previously been able to afford a VW model.
