Merc confirms SLK55 AMG price 18 | 01 | 2012

IF YOU'VE GOT £54,950 burning a hole in your pocket, then perhaps it's time to pop into your nearest Mercedes dealership and order your new SLK55 AMG.

Mercedes has confirmed the pricing of its all-new SLK55, which is powered by a new 421bhp direct-injection version of AMG’s 5.5-litre V8 engine.

Fitted with a seven-speed AMG speedshift 7G-tronic plus automatic transmission as standard, the 'box comes with three 3 intelligent modes – Controlled Efficiency (C), Sport (S), and manual (M).

Capable of hitting 62mph from standstill in 4.6secs, and accelerating on to an electronically restricted 155mph, the SLK55 also enjoys a 30% reduction in fuel economy and CO2 emissions.

In real terms, that means a combined fuel economy of 33.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 195g/km.

While the outside of the car reflects many design cues from the SLS, the interior gets exclusive AMG styling and trim.

AMG body styling, high performance disk brakes, sports suspension, leather interior, 18-inch five-spoke alloys, DAB digital radio, AMG cylinder management system, and ECO stop-start function are all standard pieces of kit.

But if you want to pimp your car just that little bit further, for an extra £4105 you can have the AMG Performance Package, which includes revised suspension and brakes with a rear diff lock.

The AMG Driver’s Package, which increases the limited top speed — why would you? — is yours for a not insignificant £2755.
