First look at new Kia Cee'd 16 | 01 | 2012

SIX MONTHS BEFORE it enters Scottish showrooms, Kia has released this first image of the all-new Cee'd.

While we have to wait until 2013 for the sporty Procee'd, the five-door Cee'd enters showrooms this June, followed by the estate in September.

According to Michael Cole, Kia's managing director in the UK, the new model will present a "more sophisticated look and a premium feel" as the Korean manufacturer continues to grow its already significant reputation.

Adopting the lines of previous Peter Schreyer-designed Kia models, the new Cee'd comes with daytime running lights. In addition, the newcomer has a more premium appearance thanks to the badge being located on the bonnet rather than the grille, and the clever use of chrome trim.

Cole also hinted that the interior of the new Cee'd is more driver-orientated than the outgoing model. In addition, the cabin also benefits from a step-up in quality materials.

Kia will also take significant steps with the new range to differentiate more strongly the sporting gap between the three-door Procee'd, and the five-door and estate Cee'd models

While Kia has yet to confirm its engine range, it will come as no surprise to learn they will be cleaner, and more fuel efficient, than those they replace.

What is known is the hothatch Procee'd will use the same 200bhp 1.6-litre engine lifted from the forthcoming Hyundai Veloster Turbo.
