Smart lifts wraps on facelifted ForTwo 07 | 03 | 2012

SMART'S ICONIC FORTWO has received a number of subtle styling tweaks 2012. The city car's new image, first previewed on the electric Smart Fortwo ED in Frankfurt last year, made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The principal styling changes include a new front grille, which now features an integrated Smart logo. New front and rear spoilers, ‘muscular’ side skirts, and revised optional horizontal LED daytime running lights are also incorporated into the new look.

The newcomer also comes with the choice of three new alloy wheel designs and seven exterior colours.

Inside the cabin there's new higher quality leather and fabric trim options, plus optional leather trim to surround the instrument panel.

While the rest of Europe enjoys five trim levels – Pure, Pulse, Passion, Brabus and Brabus Xcvlusive – it's expected the UK will be restricted to just three; Pulse, Passion and Brabus.

The set up of the chassis remains unaltered, and the Smart’s engine line-up — 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol with 70bhp, 84bhp or 101bhp in the Brabus, or a 0.8-litre diesel with 54bhp — remains as before.
