Hyundai unveils i30 wagon 07 | 03 | 2012

HYUNDAI LIFTED THE wraps from its all-new i30 wagon (yes, I know it's an estate, but Hyundai insists on calling it a 'wagon') at the Geneva Motor Show.

While the car shares its engines and running gear with the i30 five-door, the i30 wagon has a longer body. Hyundai has added 185mm to the length of the hatch, making the estate 4485mm long, to ensure an increase in stowage space in the boot.

There's a significant increase in luggage space compared to the five-door, up from 378 litres to 528 litres: fold the rear seats down and that increases to 1642-litres.

    Hyundai's new i30 to start at £14,495

Designed and engineered specifically for European customers at Hyundai’s European R&D Centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany, the i30 wagon also has a deep tailgate which opens to bumper-level for easy loading.

Hyundai has still to confirm what the full UK spec will be, but we do know the wagon will come with the same three 99bhp to 133bhp petrol engines, and three diesel engines — ranging from 89bhp to 126bhp — as the five-door.
