Merc reveals new G63 AMG 18 | 04 | 2012

MERCEDES HAS REVEALED official images of its all-new G63 AMG, ahead of its unveiling at the Beijing Motor Show.

It may still resemble something akin to a flying brick, but it's a blisteringly fast 'brick', thanks to its 536bhp twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 direct injection petrol engine.

Mated to a contemporary seven speed automatic gearbox, drive is channeled permanently to all four wheels. It's also fitted with three separate differentials which can be manually locked from the cabin for added ability in off-road conditions.

And despite managing just 20.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 322g/km, it does have some green credentials: the G63 AMG, which weighs in excess of 2500kg, is fitted with automatic stop/start function and brake energy recuperation in an effort to boost fuel savings.

Mercedes has yet to confirm official performance figures, but the G63 AMG certainly looks the part, with its new deep front bumper with large cooling ducts, double slat grille, side mounted exhaust pipes which exit ahead of the rear wheels and characteristic five spoke AMG alloy wheels.
