BATHGATE'S PAUL DI RESTA was third-fastest in this morning's opening Free Practice for the Bahrain Grand Prix, behind world champs Lewis Hamilton and Sebastien Vettel.

But with further political protests expected in the Gulf State later today, Sahara Force India Deputy team principal Bob Fernley decided the team would sit out Free Practice two.
