Audi extends its A1 range 15 | 11 | 2011

SCOTTISH AUDI DEALERS have taken delivery of two new models which have been added to the ever-expanding Audi A1 range – the Audi A1 Black Edition and Audi A1 Contrast Edition.

Powered by a range of engines, including the new-to-A1 2.0-litre TDI unit, the two new turbodiesel models sit alongside the current 1.6-litre oil-burner.

The figures from the new 142bhp powerplant are impressive: not only does it achieve 69mpg and 108g/km CO2, which puts the car in tax band B, but it covers the 0-62mph sprint in 8.2secs and hits a max of 135mph.

The Contrast Edition, which costs £1350 more than the £17,945 Sport model, is available with all but the hot 1.4-litre 182bhp engines.

It comes with a colour-contrasting roof line 17in alloys as standard. If you fancy pimping the car a bit more, a contrasting double-blade roof spoiler is available at extra cost.

Unlike the Contrast, the A1 Black Edition is available in conjunction with Audi’s 182bhp unit as well as the newly introduced 142bhp oil-burner and costs £1100 more than the S-line model.

Opt for the hot A1 and you get a black finish to the grille surround and number plate holder, plus there's tinted windows and titanium-finished 18in alloys.

Inside the cabin, the Black Edition also features electronic climate control and speaker upgrades.
