Ford launches all-new Focus estate 01 | 07 | 2011

FORD HAS introduced its new Focus estate which, according to the Blue Oval badge insiders, has already "attracted over 2000 UK customer orders". The Ford Focus estate, one of Scotland's favourite cars, joins the Focus five-door variant in the range.

Ford states the outgoing Focus estate accounted for 12.5% of sales since 1998, while the new version forecast to outperform that by reaching 18%.

With a maximum load capacity of 1502 litres (up from 1148 litres), the new estate is 200mm longer and 100mm wider than the hatchback. According to Ford, that guarantees “generous interior accommodation for both passengers and their luggage.”

Available with the same choice of engines as the hatchback, including Ford’s low CO2 diesel engine, the 109g/km 1.6-litre TDCi, which accounts for 43% of UK sales, the new estate Focus starts from £17,100. It also includes “over £1,000 additional standard equipment versus the equivalent outgoing model,” including Bluetooth, aluminium roof rails and torque vectoring control.
