KIa GT set to trigger new variants 29 | 12 | 2011

KIA IS CONSIDERING turning its GT concept into not only grand tourer, but also a two-door coupe and an estate version.

The GT, which was shown first in Frankfurt in September, is set to enter production in 2013. Now Kia has admitted it is considering adding different variants.

The concept is powered by a 3.3-litre turbocharged petrol V6 engin edelivering 390bhp. The Kia GT will be built after the manufacturer’s current range of six mass-market models have all been overhauled.

"A halo car like a Kia GT gives the while brand greater sporting credentials," Paul Philpott, chief operating officer of Kia Europe, said. "It would position the whole range as sporting, not just one model.”
