Renault to supply power to Techeetahposted in FE24 | 08 | 2016

RENAULT WILL SUPPLY the powertrain to the new Techeetah Formula E team for the 2016/17 season, which will run Jean-Eric Vergne and Ma Qing Hua in the coming campaign.

Techeetah is part of the giant Chinese company, SECA Worldwide, which took over the FE entry formerly held by Team Aguri at the end of the 2015/16 season.

Having completed a shakedown last week, Techeetah completed its first serious mileage on the opening day of the inaugural pre-season test at Donington Park on Tuesday.

In addition to supplying the Renault Z.E.16 powertrain, the French manufacturer also supplied the motor, gearbox and inverter to the team earlier this month.

“This is the first running we’ve done,” team principal Mark Preston, who has stayed in the role having co-founded the Aguri team, explained. “We’re happy with what we’ve achieved so far.”

On its first day on-track, Ma completed 39 laps, despite suffering minor mechanical issues in the afternoon.

Former F1 racer Vergne took over from Ma this morning, ending the first three-hour session quickest, with a new lap record of 1min 29.634secs.
