Kubica stays in Italyposted in F115 | 02 | 2011

RENAULT F1 STAR Robert Kubica will remain in Italy to continue his rehabilitation following the horrific injuries he received in his high speed rally crash. The Pole, who is scheduled to undergo his final operation tomorrow, is likely to stay at the Santa Corona Hospital, according to his manager Daniel Morelli.

"We'll have a meeting with medical staff and we'll look at the situation: continuity is the most important factor to pursuit," Morelli said. "We need maximum attention, and I think we'll carry on staying here because there are no better solutions.

"The hospital certainly hasn't needed our promotion: I feel that, in light of the situation, it is the most appropriate decision for Robert, also in order to stay in constant contact with the specialists and the medical staff that has operated him, especially at a delicate time such as the beginning of the rehabilitation phase."

And Kubica's manager acted swiftly to counter rumours and reports that the driver's condition had worsened following his latest operation.

"I'm sorry for what has happened, that information was absolutely wrong and unfounded," Morelli continued. "The course is progressing as normal and the clinical and psychological picture is encouraging in light of the two heavy surgery operations he has undergone.

"Medical checks carried out on Monday had a positive outcome, and on Wednesday he will undergo the final surgery on the elbow. I've spoken for a long time with Robert this afternoon, we have joked and discussed not only his physical conditions and the recovery phase that awaits us, but also the tests held at Jerez in Spain."
