Di Resta: More to comeposted in F118 | 02 | 2011

SCOTLAND'S PAUL DI RESTA continued the development of the all-new Force India VJM04 today by completing the first of four days of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona. He finished the day sixth-fastest, just 0.210s behind the McLaren of fifth-placed Jenson Button. Afterwards he spoke with Jim McGill

"We ran a limited programme at the track today, but it was a highly productive session for us," Paul explained. "We were waiting for some parts to arrive at the circuit so we opted not to run this morning; it was simply the combination of that, plus the knock on effect of the turnaround from Jerez which meant there was a lot to do to complete the car build.

"To be honest, the track conditions early today weren't very good anyway because of the overnight rain, plus the conditions were slippery and it was cold. So actually, the way it worked out, we didn't really miss much.

"I think the guys did a really good job to get the car out on track today. We managed 26 laps, which allowed us to put more miles on the car, and towards the end of the afternoon we did some productive running to get a good baseline set-up for tomorrow. We also managed to test some aerodynamics and complete some tyre comparison looking at the new soft.

"We've a much more extensive test programme to carry out tomorrow and I definitely feel there is more to come from the car. It's important we get as much out of this test as possible and I'm looking forward to helping the team by getting back out there tomorrow."
