RallyScotland's new 'National' eventposted in RSCOT13 | 04 | 2011

IN A MOVE similar to the successful Wales Rally GB National event, organisers of RallyScotland are opening up this year's rally for a two-day National competition; the National even will take place on Saturday/Sunday, October 8/9. And there's a major incentive for the first 25 crews to enter.

Using the same stages which have been described as the best in the world by the likes of 2010 winner, Juho Hanninen and 2009 champion, Kris Meeke, the National will offer more than 70 miles of competition during the penultimate IRC counter.

“In what is only the third running of this event, we recognised we have access to some incredible roads," Clerk of the Course, Iain Campbell, said, "and from using what we have learned over the last two years we knew we could open these up to more competitors.

"People whose car is maybe no longer, or never was homologated, or don’t have the necessary license to compete at international level can now take on the likes of Mikkelsen and Wilks on the same stages to see how they compare with Europe’s best.

“While the route is very much in a draft form, we are offering around 10 stages, split between the two days. The format is for scrutineering on Saturday morning, rally Saturday afternoon and then all day Sunday before the podium ceremony.”

The first 25 crews to enter the RallyScotland National event will receive a guaranteed entry to the Wales Rally GB National Rally and a £100 discount off the Wales Rally GB National entry fee.

The entry fee for Scotland has been set at just £575 including VAT. Rally Guide1 will be available from the beginning of June, with Regulations issued during August.
