Di Resta: I can't waitposted in F111 | 11 | 2010

BATHGATE'S PAUL di Resta is in Abu Dhabi preparing to drive the Force India car in tomorrow's opening free practice session ahead of the F1 season finale. He took time out from his preparations to tell Scotcars his thoughts in the build-up to what promises to be a thrilling weekend.

"It's a amazing how quickly the year has passed," Di Resta said. "It seems like only yesterday I was driving the Force India car for the first time in pre-season testing; now here I am in Abu Dhabi getting ready to drive the car again in the build-up to the season finale.

"It's been a fantastic season for F1 and, personally, I can't wait to see how the weekend unfolds. Of course I'll be working hard to do everything I can to ensure we can overtake Williams in the race for sixth place in the Constructors' Championship, but like you I'll be watching the race for the championship intently.

"I think it's going to be a great weekend weekend for Formula One. It's not often we get to the final grand prix of the season with four drivers in with a chance of winning the championship.

"The Red Bulls are amazingly fast, something they again proved in Brazil at the weekend, so they're going to be very difficult to beat. What's going to be interesting to watch is how the team — and, specifically Mark (Webber) and Sebastian (Vettel) — manage themselves not just through qualifying, but the actual race, especially if Fernando (Alonso) is in the position to lift the title at the expense of the Red Bull car.

"Of course, Lewis (Hamilton) has nothing to lose and everything to gain, though he needs a significant amount of help if he's to overturn his 24-point deficit.

"Personally, I can't wait. The facilities here are exceptional and it's a brilliant place for the championship to be decided. As I said, my first priority is to help Force India to sixth place in the team's championship, then I can turn my attention to the drivers' battle.

"It's going to be a fantastic spectacle, and I can't wait for the action to start on Sunday."
