Lexus LC Black Inspiration special 22 | 10 | 2021

LEXUS HAS INTRODUCED a new Black Inspiration model into its LC coupe range. Stacked with loads of extra equipment as standard, it will be available to order from November 1, when prices will be released. (Related: Review — Lexus LC 500 Cabriolet)

Let’s focus first on the Black Inspiration looks. It will come as no surprise to you that it’s finished in Lexus’s Graphite Black paint. In addition, the radiator grille, door mirrors and headlight surrounds have all been exchanged for black replacements. (Related: Lexus LF-Z Electrified concept)

At the rear there’s a new fixed spoiler for the bootlid, while the car sits on a set of 21-inch five-spoke forged alloys. The Black Inspiration also benefits from a carbon fibre roof and scuff plates, both of which are just a few of the ‘add-ons’ from its Sport Plus Pack. (Related: Lexus UX hybrid SUV updated)

Inside the cabin there’s 10-way adjustable sports seats, semi-aniline leather upholstery, a 13-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system, a head-up display and a card key.

But don’t think the Black Inspiration is simply all about looks … it isn’t. It’s been fitted with a Torsen limited-slip differential, dynamic rear-wheel steering and a variable ratio steering rack; the latter automatically adjusts the steering ratio depending on the car’s speed. There’s also more safety equipment, including rear cross traffic alert and a blind-spot monitoring system. And while adaptive dampers are fitted as standard, so too are heated and ventilated seats, keyless entry and a heated steering wheel.

As for what’s under the bonnet of the special edition, buyers can choose from both of the standard LC’s powertrains. That means either a 354bhp 3.5-litre V6 hybrid attached to a CVT gearbox or a 471bhp 5.0-litre V8 mated to a traditional automatic transmission. The hybrid covers 0-62mph in 5.0secs, with the V8 shaving a further 0.3s off the sprint.
