Hyundai assembles Kona Iron Man  22 | 01 | 2019

    HYUNDAI HAS TEAMED up with Marvel to create a new Iron Man edition of its Kona SUV. Fitted with a number of styling upgrades inspired by the Iron Man film series, the limited edition model goes on-sale at Scottish dealerships on March 1, priced from £27,995.     Instantly identifiable due to its unique two tone Iron Man Matte Grey and Red Armour, the car also gets an Iron Man emblem on the roof. And if that’s no enough, there’s also STARK Industries branding on the sills and a deep bonnet scoop.

    You’ll probably have also have noticed the model-specific “Iron-grip” 18-inch alloys — which come complete with a set of Iron Man centre caps — plus there’s Iron Man emblems for the front wings and puddle lamps, as well as a handful of Marvel logos. (Related: Hyundai reveals all-electric Kona)

    You’ll not be surprised to learn the interior get similar Iron Man treatment. The leather seats feature red stitching and piping, and the heated and ventilated front seats are embossed with the STARK Industries logo and Iron Man image on the backrests.     On start up, the standard Krell Premium audio system and supervision instrument cluster both display the Iron Man eyes during system check.  The instrument cluster and tachometer also feature the STARK Industries Arc Reactor as the background graphics, as does the leather-wrapped and red stitched gear lever. The Iron Man theme is rounded off by a dashboard signature from Tony Stark.

    In addition, the Kona Iron Man edition comes as standard with the equipment from the upper end of the Kona range including automatic LED head and tail lights, Keyless Entry with Engine Start/Stop Button, 8in Touchscreen Satellite Navigation with Android Auto and Apple Car Play all as standard.

    But there’s also air conditioning with climate control and drivers side head up display, plus safety equipment including autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, downhill brake control, driver attention alert, lane keep assist and rear cross traffic alert.

    Power comes not from STARK Industries Arc Reactor, but Hyundai’s 175bhp 1.6-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, mated to a seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission. The 2WD car will cover 0-62mph in 7.9secs and carry on to a max of 127mph.

    “With only 300 cars coming to the UK, the Kona Iron Man Edition will be a unique ownership experience, combining the Kona’s style, technology and performance with a slice of superhero fun.”
