Toyota reveals Corolla Touring Sports 04 | 09 | 2018

THIS IS THE new Toyota Corolla Touring Sports. Scheduled to makes its first public appearance at the Paris Motor Show next month, the car replaces the outgoing Auris Touring Sports. It’s due to go on-sale at Scottish dealerships early in 2019 priced from around £20,000. (Related: New Design trim for Toyota C-HR)

The new Corolla Touring Sports will be available with a choice of two hybrids and just one conventional internal combustion engine. While there’s a 114bhp 1.2-litre turbo petrol, the bulk of the sales will be for the 120bhp 1.8-litre and new, 178bhp 2.0-litre hybrid units.

Developing the external appearance of the Corolla hatchback unveiled earlier this year, the Touring Sports gets a sharp new design and large grille, while at the rear there’s a sharply angled rear window and a bumper.

Toyota has extended the wheelbase by 60mm over the hatchback to 2700mm and is claiming best-in-class rear leg room. There’s also 598-litre boot capacity with the seats up, 68 litres more than the current Auris Touring Sports. Toyota has yet to confirm the seats-down boot capacity.

There’s also a load of equipment — though not all as standard — available on the new model, including wireless phone charging, a head-up display and JBL GreenEdge Premium sound system.
