Volvo reveals prices of new V60 22 | 05 | 2018

VOLVO’S ALL-NEW V60 range has been priced from £31,810. Available to order now at Scottish dealerships, first deliveries are scheduled for the third quarter of this year.  The range will start with the entry-level D3-engined model in Momentum trim, and be topped-out by the 247bhp T5 petrol engine in Inscription Pro spec priced at £40,670. In keep with Volvo’s latest raft of new models, standard spec in the V60 is high. All models get  LED headlights, rear parking sensors, an automated tailgate, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a nine-inch infotainment system as standard.

Volvo’s instantly-recognisable portrait-oriented touchscreen includes satnav, voice activation and access to cloud-based apps like Spotify and Yelp. (Related: Volvo aims for 50% EVs by 2025)

Safety, as you would expect, rates highly in the new model. The V60 is the first Volvo to supplement its automatic emergency braking system with tech that’s able to mitigate a collision with an oncoming vehicle. It also comes with the Swedish carmaker’s semi-autonomous Pilot Assist tech.

In addition to the entry-level Momentum spec, the range includes a plush Inscription trim; and again, in keeping with recent new models, each trim will be available in both regular and Pro guises. Soon after the car’s launch, the V60 range will be further supplemented by the addition of sportier R Design and rugged Cross Country trims. Prices for these have yet to be confirmed.

And while the new saloon version, the S60, will not be available with diesel engines, V60 buyers can chose from 148bhp D3 and 187bhp D4 diesel powerplants. Both are available with either six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions. The sole petrol option, the T5, is auto only.

The D3 offers 150hp, combined fuel consumption of up to 64.2mpg and CO2 emissions from just 117g/km. The D4 has 190hp, combined fuel consumption of up to 64.0mpg and  CO2 emissions also from just 117g/km. The 250hp T5’s numbers are from 43.7mpg and 150g/km respectively. These figures are sure to make the V60 attractive to company car drivers and private buyers alike.

Other attractive figures are the V60’s monthly costs. Company car tax starts at just £147 a month for a D3 Momentum manual, while BCH (Business Contract Hire) is from £316 a month, based on a D3 Momentum, an initial rental of £1896 +VAT, a 36-month contract and 10,000 miles per annum.

PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) starts at £299 a month, also based on a D3 Momentum, with a customer deposit of £4387, a 48-month contract and 10,000 miles per annum. PCH (Personal Contract Hire) costs are also from £299 a month, based on an initial rental of £3999, a 48-month contract and 10,000 miles per annum.

Externally, the design of the new V60 mirrors a shrunken form of the excellent V90 estate. Though closer inspection reveals a number of styling cues — including the fact the ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlights are a bit more sculpted — have been lifted from the XC60. Also, in comparison to the V90, the front apron of the V60 has a more aggressive look.

Inside the marriage of V90 and XC60 continues, with Volvo’s paired back interior design language dominating. As for stowage? Fold the rear seats and the V60 will swallow 529-litres of luggage, which is more than rivals including the BMW 3 Series Touring, Mercedes C-Class Estate and Audi A4 Avant.
