Tipping the scales at just 1098kg, the Alpine A110 is powered by a mid-mounted 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 249bhp and 320Nm of torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It’ll hit 62mph from standstill in 4.5 seconds —  1/10th of a second faster than a manual Cayman S — and carry on to a limited top speed of 155mph. (Related: Renault reveals Zoe R110 prices)

The Pure version gets leather trimmed seats, air-conditioning and sat nav as standard. The options list includes uprated Brembo brakes, an active sport exhaust system, six-way adjustable seats, a parking camera and parking sensors.

Those stepping up to the A110 Legende gets the six-way seats, parking assistance features, an uprated audio system, unique 18in alloys and aluminium finished pedals all as standard. However, if you want the larger 320mm Brembo discs and the sports exhaust system, you’ll still need to stump up the extra £936 and £1380 respectively.

Across both models, electrically folding door mirrors and an auto-dimming rear view mirror are optional extras, priced £468 and bundled together.
