Nissan Pulsar teaser pic 16 | 05 | 2014

NISSAN IS SET to go head-to-head with the Ford Focus and VW Golf when it officially unveils its new five-door hatchback, the Pulsar, next Tuesday.

Ahead of that, Nissan today issued a teaser image of the car which will go on sale in Scotland in the autumn and is likely to be powered by engines lifted from the Qashqai.

The Pulsar name was first used by Nissan in 1978 and was widely used for models in Asian and Australasian markets over the course of the last four decades.

The latest reincarnation of the Pulsar — which sees Nissan enter the highly-competitive C-segment for the first time since the Almera was phased out — will be built at Nissan's factory in Barcelona, Spain.

According to the Japanese manufacturer, the Pulsar has been "designed to meet the specific demands of European car buyers". The company also says it will feature "the same high quality, high innovation approach that has come to typify Nissan models".
