VW launches revised Tiguan 02 | 03 | 2011

SUCH HAS been the demand for Volkswagen's Tiguan that the company was forced to bring forward the launch of the revised model simply because the model 'sold out'; and going by the fact there was a shortage of details in the original press release, it appears the switch caught VW on the hop.

Order books will open across VW's scottish dealership network ion June with first deliveries expected in August. It's known prices for the facelifted model will start at the same price in Germany, and that's a trend which is likely to continue in the UK; meaning the entry-model 1.4TSI Bluemotion 2WD will cost £20,474.

The facelifted model gets a different grille and a new light design at the front and rear, plus a revamped bumper. It's expected the engine range will remain largely unchanged, although VW will probably introduce Bluemotion tech to deliver modest gains in fuel economy and CO2 emissions.

Don't be surprised also to see an expansion of VW's DSG dual-clutch transmissions further across the range.
