Range Rover turns all green 01 | 03 | 2011

LAND ROVER has proved it can go green and fight with the environmentalists by unveiling its new 89g/km diesel-electric plug-in hybrid version of the Range Rover Sport. The rather awkwardly-badged Range_e prototype is powered by a 3.0-litre TDV6 engine, plus an unspecified electric motor and battery pack which has been twinned to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

Capable of travelling up to 20 miles on electric power alone, a major contribution to its low CO2 figure, the all-wheel-drive model has a top speed of 120mph.

Range Rover also launched two special edition models at Geneva: the £130,000 Range Rover Autobiography Ultimate Edition and the Discovery 4 Landmark Black and White models.
