Bogie orders Ford Fiesta R5posted in RSCOT14 | 02 | 2014

SCOTS RALLY ACE, five times Scottish rally champ David Bogie, has further raised the standards in Scotland by placing an order for a state-of-the-art four-wheel-drive Ford Fiesta R5.

The 26-year-old from Dumfries expects to take delivery of the car in May, so he and co-driver Kevin Rae (Hawick) are aiming to compete in the new car in June, following some testing. Until then, the duo will continue to use their current Ford Focus World Rally Car.

Bogie and Rae are hoping to get some strong results in the R5, before making a full assault on the final round of the World Rally Championship, Wales Rally GB, in November.

The last time they were up against such big players was during their three outings at RallyScotland where they proved they could swap times with some of the best drivers in the world.

They finished fourthth overall in 2010, behind three works teams.

“I can’t wait to get my hands on it," Bogie said yesterday (Sat). "It’s an incredible car and so much more advanced than the Focus.

"I’m really looking forward to the new challenge and getting out there with the big boys! The car is being built by M-Sport and their name speaks for itself. I have a great relationship with them and will be down there a lot to see how the car is coming along.”

Bogie has been testing the Focus this week, and despite difficult conditions, the car and driver are all set to go.

They begin their bid to win a recordbreaking six successive Scottish title in next Saturday's opening round, the Snowman Rally in Inverness.

“It feels like it has been a long winter break," he continued, "and we can’t wait to get back out on to the stages."
