Di Resta's double top 10posted in F125 | 11 | 2011

BATHGATE'S PAUL DI RESTA got his first driving experience of the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo today as he continued his preparation for this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix. He posted a fastest time of 1min 14.807secs.

With top 10 positions at the end of both opening Free Practice sessions in his Sahara Force India VJM04, the 25-year-old Scot believes the work completed will help ensure the team finishes sixth in the Constructors' Championship.

“I got my first proper feel for Interlagos today and I have to say I really like the track," Di Resta admitted. "It’s a very short lap, but there’s a nice rhythm to the place and it’s quite technical, too.

"As for the programme today, we had a lot of work to get through, but it was quite straightforward and we’ve collected lots of data.

"In fact, it’s probably one of the best Fridays we’ve had in terms of collecting data – although it remains to be seen how useful that information will be if the weather changes over the weekend."

Di Resta and his Sahara Force India team head into Sunday's race leading Sauber by 15 points and Toro Rosso by 16 in their bid to finish sixth in the Constructors' Championship.

"Everyone's working very hard to ensure we give ourselves the best possible opportunity to clinch sixth position for the team," Di Resta continued.

"We're certainly in a good position at the moment, in terms of how we're developing the car for the race, but there's a long way to go yet before the chequered flag on Sunday."
