Scots dealer named UK Mini No1 15 | 02 | 2021

A SCOTS DEALER is celebrating being named No1 for Mini in the UK. Grassicks Mini in Perth fought off stiff competition from the 131-dealership network across the county to be crowned Mini Retailer of the Year 2020. The announcement was made at a virtual awards ceremony, with the help of comedian and stand-up comic Alan Carr. (Related: Mini gets a major facelift for 2021)

And the Perth operation, which was acquired by Edinburgh-based Eastern Western Group three years ago, but still trades as Grassicks, is no stranger to success. It’s the second time the company has received the UK No 1 accolade, following its success in 2017.

“2020 was without doubt one of the most challenging years in automotive retail we’ve ever faced, so for us to be crowned Mini Retailer of the Year it means even more,” Magnus Wang, franchise director, Grassicks Mini said. (Related: Eastern Western buys Grassicks BMW and Mini)

“It is fantastic recognition for the team’s determination and hard work, and we are extremely proud. In 2021 we’re looking forward to focusing another year of efforts on selling exciting new Mini products and looking after our customers.”

Grassicks’ top award was praised by David George, director UK and Ireland, Mini UK.

“As we begin 2021, the brand’s 20th year since the launch of the modern Mini, it’s important for us to look back and recognise our retailers’ outstanding achievements in 2020,” George said.

“Mini Electric was a shining star for us in this difficult year, and at the other end of the spectrum we welcomed, and promptly sold out of, the Mini John Cooper Works GP. (Related: Mini Countryman JCW gets facelift)

“In true Mini spirit, our retailers met the year’s challenges head-on, taking every opportunity, whether servicing key workers in lockdown 1.0 or reacting to the swell of demand when showroom doors opened again. Their tireless efforts mean we maintained our record market share of 2.8% – a fantastic achievement.”

Grassicks’ award coincides with the introduction of the latest generation of Mini, following the major facelift — including a fresh new design and technology updates — on the Mini 3-Door Hatch, the Mini Electric, Mini 5-door Hatch and the Mini Cabrio.
