2021 Dacia Sandero revealed 07 | 09 | 2020

DACIA HAS LIFTED the wraps from its third-generation Sandero, including the Sandero Stepway. On-sale in the UK early 2021, the new model will make its debut at the end of this month. And while Dacia says the new model will retain the same standards of simplicity and reliability, it’s also promised improved levels of equipment. (Related: Dacia launches SE Twenty kit)

That said, the latest release gives little away about the equipment each car will receive. What we can see is the Sandero — which was first was introduced in 2002 — retains its familiar overall shape, though there are evolutionary styling tweaks.  The simple lines and high roofline are still there, but we can see that its proportions look visibly stretched in comparison to the current model.

Dacia says the 2021 model “feels lower and more grounded, thanks in part to wider tracks and flush-mounted wheels”. It also confirms a “more sloping windshield, a lower roofline, a flowing roofline and a radio antenna placed at the end of the roof”. (Related: Dacia ups prices of Duster by £1000)

The SUV-inspired Stepway will again be available on the next generation Sandero, and again it’ll feature a slightly raised ride-height, black plastic body cladding and roof rails.

The All-New Sandero Stepway is immediately recognisable at the front by a specific, ribbed and more domed bonnet, the chrome Stepway logo under the grille and curved fenders above the fog lights. (Related: Dacia tops 'most affordable' list)

Both models now feature Dacia's new Y-shaped light signature at the front and rear. The company says “a horizontal line joins the two headlamps at the front and rear, and extends into their respective lighting lines, helping to visually broaden the models”.

We’ll get full details of the third-generation Sandero on September 29.
