Updated Honda CR-V for 2021 30 | 11 | 2020
HONDA HAS LIFTED the wraps from its 2021 CR-V. The updated SUV, which will arrive in UK showrooms before the end of the year, will be priced from £30,180 and boasts a number of cosmetic and technology updates. (Related: Honda CR-V Hybrid)
Principal changes are inside the cabin. The trim fitted to the car’s centre console, dashboard, and door cards now features a new silver finish. There’s also a wireless smartphone charging pad fitted to the range-topping EX.
Outside, the tweaks are more subtle. privacy glass is now standard across the rage, and the update includes new 18in alloys. There’s also a new blue-ringed Honda badge and the firm’s latest e:HEV nameplate; the latter highlights the CR-V’s “electrified credentials.”
Strangely though, the updated CR-V retains the previous model’s i-MMD system, which comprises a 143bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, two electric motors and a small battery pack. What it doesn’t get is the innovative e:HEV found in the latest Honda Jazz.
In the CR-V, the electric motors can generate up to 315Nm of torque. At low speeds the CR-V can cruise around on electric power alone. According to Honda, the front-wheel drive models will return 42.2mpg on the WLTP combined cycle, and emit 151g/km of CO2. These figure become less efficient for the 4WD version, returning 39.2mpg and emitting 161g/km.
Honda engineers have also tweaked the new CR-V’s chassis by including a new suspension system aimed at improving the SUV’s handling and ride comfort. Low-speed manoeuvrability has also been improved with the introduction of a revised version of the car’s electric power steering system.
