Lexus reveals revised LC range 17 | 04 | 2020
LEXUS HAS UNVEILED an updated version of its LC Coupe. The 2020 version now includes improvements to the infotainment system plus, more significantly, suspension revisions to sharpen up the driving experience. Prices will be confirmed closer to its planned launch date in July. (Related: Lexus UX hybrid SUV updated)
Design-wise, the LC is essentially unchanged. It does though benefit from a new design of 20-inch alloys, and two new paint colours — one of which, Terrane Khaki, was previously reserved for the LC Limited Edition released mid-2019. Oh, and just for good measure, you can also upgrade the wheels to 21in forged alloys.
Lexus engineers have further bid to shed weight for the car by making the lower suspension arms aluminium. And contributing to the overall weight loss of 10kg from the suspension are new hollow anti-roll bars and stronger, lighter coil springs. (Related: Toyota GR Yaris starts at £29,995)
Comfort though has also been improved with revisions to the bump stops and greater travel for the dampers manage, while stiffer anti-roll rear anti-roll bars aid turn-in.
Improved technology, as you would expect, also plays its part. New software has added torque vectoring to the Active Cornering Assist system, which brakes the inside wheel when turning into a corner to help sharpen the responses and increase lateral grip. There’s also been a recalibration of the variable power steering and rear-wheel steering systems to compliment the other improvements. (Related: New Toyota GR Supra unveiled)
Power remains as before. That means a choice of two engines; a 349bhp 3.5-litre V6 hybrid, and a 458bhp 5.0-litre V8. The hybrid can cover 80 miles on electric-only power, while the V8 delivers its power through a newly-revised 10-speed automatic gearbox, which now has new ratios.
Inside the cabin, the 10.3-inch infotainment system now displays links to both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. And while black and ochre shades continue to be offered as ‘standard’ interior finishes, there flamboyant can now opt for Flare Red leather and Manhattan Orange Alcantara.
As I said, prices for the revised models have yet to be confirmed, but currently the LC starts from £78,190 for the V8, and £78,810 for the hybrid.
