Jaguar E-Pace Chequered Flag Edition 07 | 05 | 2019

JAGUAR HAS LIFTED the wraps from a new special edition of its E-Pace SUV. Essentially a better equipped version of the range-topping R-Dynamic model, the newly-badged Chequered Flag Edition comes with a host of performance and styling upgrades, plus a unique colour palette. On sale now at Scottish Jaguar dealers, prices start from £40,050. (Related: Jaguar I-Pace is Scottish Car of the Year)

Externally the Chequered Flag Edition differentiates itself from the rest of the E-Pace range thanks to new 19in alloys, a choice of four exclusive colours, a range of “Chequered Flag” badges plus a unique set of tread plates. Carried over from the ‘standard’ E-Pace R-Dynamic is a sports body kit, plus LED headlights, twin tailpipes, and Jaguar’s Black Exterior Pack. (Related: Jaguar I-Pace is European Car of the Year)

Inside the Chequered Flag Edition’s cabin there’s a pair of heated front seats, trimmed in Ebony Grained Leather with red stitching, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, plus an R-Dynamic sports steering wheel with black shift paddles. The special edition also gets a new 10in infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Jaguar’s Adaptive Dynamics system, which claims to provide improved handling and ride comfort by adjusting the E-Pace’s damping and body roll according to the road surface, is also featured on the Chequered Flag Edition.

The special edition vehicle is available in three colours – Photon Red, exclusive to this model — alongside Corris Grey and Yulong White. (Related: Taggarts opens new £12m Jaguar and Volvo showrooms)

Available with a choice of four engines, the Chequered Flag Edition starts with Jaguar’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, delivering either 148bhp and 380Nm of torque or 178bhp and 430Nm.

The range also includes two petrol options, with two levels of tune — 197bhp and 320Nm of torque, or 246bhp and 365Nm — from Jaguar’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. All four units are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.

“Jaguar’s first compact SUV successfully blends its sports car DNA with a smaller, more versatile, package,” Scot Ian Callum, director of design at Jaguar, said.

“Not only does this bring Jaguar to a new audience, it does so with the confidence and practicality that define the Pace family. With the addition of the Chequered Flag model, the E-Pace model range offers more choice than ever.”
