Porsche unveils Cayenne Coupe 22 | 03 | 2019

PORSCHE HAS LAUNCHED a new four-seater coupe version of its third-generation Cayenne SUV. Available to order now, and due to arrive in Scottish showrooms in May, prices will start at £62,129. (Related: New Porsche 911 Cabriolet unveiled)

Key highlights of the new coupe — which sits 30mm lower to the ground compared to the  standard Cayenne — include sharper styling with a unique rear body section, an adaptive rear spoiler, a rear bench with the characteristics of two individual seats, and two different roof styles – a panoramic fixed glass roof fitted as standard, and an optional carbon-fibre roof.

At the front the new coupe is almost identical to the standard Cayenne, but it’s at the rear where the principal styling differences are. The roofline from the B-pillar back has a steeper rake and the rear window tapers more sharply towards the rear bumper. (Related: Porsche confirms 2019 Macan price)

From launch, buyers will be able to choose from two engines. First-up is the ‘standard’ Cayenne Coupe with a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol unit delivering 330bhp and 450Nm of torque. As in the sister Cayenne, the coupe sends its power through an eight-speed automatic gearbox to all four wheels. It’ll cover the 0–62mph sprint in 6.0-seconds and continue on to a top speed of 150mph. Combined fuel figures ranges between 22.2mpg-23.9mpg; and combined CO2 emissions 215-212g/km.

Costing a whopping £42,000 extra at £104,729, the Turbo Coupe gets a 534bhp twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 petrol, pinching out 770Nm of torque. The engine, along with the transmission and four-wheel drive system, is lifted from the current Cayenne Turbo. It’ll hit 60mph from standstill in 3.9s and max-out at 177mph. Combined fuel numbers are 20.2mpg-20.8mpg; and CO2 emissions 261-258g/km.

Though yet to be confirmed, it’s expected the Cayenne coupe range will ultimately also include a plug-in hybrid version

Standard equipment on the coupe includes Porsche's ‘Sport Chrono’ package, front and rear parking sensors, 2.16 m2 panoramic glass roof, active dampers and 20-inch alloys. Options include a lightweight sports package with 22in alloys and carbon-fibre roof, while Turbo buyers can spec a sports exhaust system.

Inside the cabin, the coup gets a centre-mounted rev counter and digital gauge cluster, 12-inch infotainment system, plus a pair of eight-way adjustable sports seats. Porsche has also reworked the rear bench seat to create two individual seats.

“The coupe includes all the technical highlights of the current Cayenne, and its more dynamic design and new technical details position it as more progressive, athletic, and emotional,” Oliver Blume, chairman of the executive board of Porsche, said.
