UK dealers get Volvo Online sales 26 | 04 | 2019

VOLVO HAS LAUNCHED what it claims is the UK’s “most comprehensive online new car buying service”. According to Volvo, the online system allows buyers to configure their new car, part exchange their old one and — if necessary — sign a finance agreement online in less than 20 minutes. The new Volvo Online platform — which is now live here — means buyers can order their car either direct from the factory, or from stock. Reassuringly, all orders are always directly linked to a Volvo dealer which, in turn, will set the pricing. Volvo Online also provides a choice of HP, PCP, PCH or cash purchase. UK dealers are the first to get the system. (Related: Roadtest — Volvo XC90)

The initiative has been, according to Volvo UK, “designed with transparency and trust at its heart”. Customers can see in real time the impact on their monthly finance cost while configuring their ideal car, whether changing the colour, adding options or packs, or even adding accessories such as a dog harness. Meanwhile, the platform will strengthen the relationship between the customer and their local retailer, who will manage the process and help them to choose the right car and finance package for them. And to ensure Volvo Online is as trustworthy as it is convenient, multiple checks have been built into the process at key points.

Full vehicle configuration will be initially available on Volvo’s multi-award-winning XC40 SUV, with other models becoming available by Friday, May 3.

“Whether online or offline, the way people buy cars has changed,” Jon Wakefield, Volvo Car UK managing director, said. “Customers now have much more control over the process, and Volvo Online helps them to take that one step further.

“It makes life as easy as possible without compromising on choice or security, and lets customers drive the purchase process when it’s most convenient for them.”
