Scots car giant to open in Bolton 07 | 11 | 2018

SCOTLAND’S LARGEST DEALERSHIP group, Arnold Clark, is planning to open a new dealership in Bolton. The Motorstore used car outlet — similar to the one in York (pictured) — will be located in the refurbished former Toys ‘R’ Us unit at Trinity Retail Park, Springfield. The site will accommodate a 30-car internal showroom, plus external space to display up to 120 cars. There will also be an MOT facility, a preparation valet bay and a service workshop with 11 ramps.

This will be Arnold Clark’s first outlet in Bolton. It does, however, already have a number of car dealerships in the area, including a Motorstore in Wigan, 11 miles away, plus a Renault/Dacia dealership. (Related: Arnold Clark opens 24th Motorstore)

“The group had been actively looking for a suitable site in the Bolton area,” Derek Cuthbertson, estates manager for Arnold Clark, said, “and when this opportunity arose it was apparent the site had the capability of accommodating our Motorstore franchise.

"We have been working hard since the start of the year with our design team and consultants to make this project happen and we are delighted planning approval has now been granted."

The Glasgow-based group, the largest independent car dealership in Europe, has an annual turnover of £3.7bn. Construction at the new site has already started and is due to finish in February 2019.
