Honda Urban EV on-sale 2019 06 | 03 | 2018

HONDA HAS CONFIRMED it will start taking customer orders for its first electric vehicle, the Urban EV, early next year. The hatchback will be the first in a range of new all-electric vehicles from the Japanese brand. (Related: New 2018 Honda Civic diesel)

The Urban EV fully electric hatchback, which was first shown as a concept at last year’s 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, is expected to be shown in full production form at the end of the year. It’s widely expected the production version will closely reflect the look of the concept. (Related: Green light for Honda Urban EV)

No details of the car’s power figures, performance or battery output have yet been confirmed, and Honda is yet to reveal the car’s range or charge times. But given it’s aimed squarely at an urban marker, we would expect the range to be around 200 miles, allied to the latest fast-charge technology.

The design of the Urban EV stirs memories of the original Honda Civic of the Seventies, with its round headlamps, thin A-pillars and short front and rear overhangs.

Urban EV can accommodate four people, with the rear-hinged doors offering easy access to the back seats.
