FIFTY YEARS AFTER the legendary film, Ford has confirmed its special edition Mustang Bullitt will go on sale in the UK. Close to £6000 more expensive than the ‘standard’ 5.0-litre Mustang GT, each Bullitt gets a unique metallic paint option, Dark Highland Green, alongside Bullitt design signatures in the exterior front grille, splitter and rear Bullitt badge. Unique 19in Bullitt High-gloss black finish five-spoke alloy wheels fitted as standard, with Brembo six-piston front brake calipers, painted red front and rear, are also standard.

Inside, the special edition benefits from Recaro leather seats with green detailing feature, alongside Bullitt instrument panel badge with unique chassis number.

Based on the 2018 version of the car, the Bullitt’s special livery is inspired by the classic 1968 Mustang used in the Steve McQueen epic, best known for its car chase scene. The Bullitt also gets a series of mechanical modifications to cement its status as the most special non-Shelby Mustang in the range.

The 5.0-litre Mustang Bullitt delivers 458bhp and 388lb/ft — an increase of 14bhp over the standard Mustang’s 444bhp.

New rev-matching technology delivers smoother downshifts as standard for new V8 models with six-speed manual transmission, accompanied by a sporty “blip”, matching the engine rotation speed to that of the gear that is being selected for smooth, seamless gear-changes.
