New Toyota RAV4 spec and prices  04 | 12 | 2018

SCOTTISH TOYOTA DEALERS are now taking orders for the latest RAV4. The new fourth-generation model — set to go head-to-head with the likes of the VW Tiguan and Honda CR-V — starts at £29,635, with first deliveries of the front-wheel drive version scheduled for April next year. All-wheel drive models will follow in May. (Related: Toyota reveals Corolla Touring Sports)

Taller and wider than the previous RAV4, the latest version is an all-round stockier redesign  which was inspired by the FT-AC concept revealed at last year’s Los Angeles Motor Show. (Related: New Design trim for Toyota C-HR)

And while 30mm has been added to the 2019 model’s wheelbase, increasing the cabin space for passengers, the newcomer is slightly longer overall at 4600mm. Toyota designers have also ruled the front and rear overhangs, while also increasing the ground clearance.

Powered by a 2.5-litre hybrid, which uses a new electric motor drive, the front-wheel-drive version develops 215bhp: Toyota claims 103g/km CO2. Fitted to the AWD model, the engine delivers 219bhp, but emits the same 103g/km CO2. The car has yet to be fully homologated under WLTP rules.

The entry-level Icon spec comes with a 215bhp 2.5-litre petrol self-charging hybrid powertrain; power is delivered to the front wheels. Standard equipment includes  an eight-inch Toyota Touch 2  infotainment system in the cabin linked to a rear view camera and seven-inch driver information display housed in the instrument panel. There’s also 17in alloys, LED headlights, powerfolding mirrors, rear parking sensors, an electronic parking brake, plus automatic headlights and wipers.

Next up is the Design trim. Starting at £31,190, this adds an electronically closing tailgate, keyless entry, front parking sensors, plus 18in alloys. It’s also available with the more powerful 219bhp all-wheel-drive version of the 2.5-litre self-charging hybrid powertrain. It’s priced at £33,430, a premium of £2240.

The Excel spec, starting at £33,610, adds a further level of equipment, including a windscreen wiper with a built-in de-icer, headlight cleaners, blind spot monitors, projector LED headlights, puddle lights and rear cross traffic alert. Inside, the cabin benefits from full leather upholstery, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

The range-topping Dynamic gets the same standard equipment as the Design, but gets a more sporty look thanks to black five-spoke 18in alloys, bi-tone metallic paint, black interior headlining and sports seats.
