Suzuki drops diesel from UK line-up 10 | 04 | 2018

SUZUKI HAS DROPPED all diesel models from its line-up. The decision comes as sales for diesel cars continue to dwindle in Scotland.

While Suzuki offered only one diesel engine, the Fiat-built 1.6-litre DDiS, with just two models, it was available in both the Vitara (pictured) and SX4 S-Cross.

Traditionally, diesel has has formed only a small portion of Suzuki’s UK sales, but it now represents just 3% of the company's UK demand. It was this figure which accelerated Suzuki’s decision to remove diesel options from sale.

Last year, just over 1000 diesel-powered Vitara and SX4 S-Cross were sold in the UK last year. That figure is put into perspective when you consider Suzuki sold 40,000 units in total in Britain.
