Mondeo prices slashed by £2500 19 | 09 | 2017

FORD HAS STREAMLINED its Mondeo line-up and cut the entry price at Scottish dealerships by £2500. The range now kicks off with Zetec Edition models, priced from £19,445. First deliveries are due in November. (Related: Ford Focus RS Edition on-sale)

The restructured Mondeo range — which still starts £695 above the entry-level rival Vauxhall Insignia — has been reduced from seven trim levels to five.

In addition to the Zetec Edition, there’s now a sporty ST-Line and ST-Line Edition, plus a more luxury-based Titanium Edition. The range tops-out with the Vignale (pictured above and below) models, which now start at £27,545; that’s a £3000 reduction.

Across the range, sat-nav, cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, and a DAB radio are now all standard.

Step up to either of the ST-Line models and you add lowered sports suspension, 19in alloys, plus reprofiled front and rear bumpers. Leather heated seats with 10-way power adjustment are fitted to the Titanium Edition.

According to Ford, 85% of Mondeos are driven by “professionals as a company or lease car”, which means they pay a “benefit in kind” tax based on its on the road price. The new changes will mean a 40% tax payer running a new ST-Line Edition 2.0 TDCi 150PS will save up to £720 over three years, plus £300 on the employer’s fleet National Insurance costs.
