SLG Technology, part of Scottish Leather Group based in Renfrewshire, earlier had won the Sustainable Development Award. The award for Most Outstanding Business of 2017 — among the most coveted awards of the night — was selected from all category winners.

The Scottish leather manufacturer has long been a pioneer in environmental policies and sustainable production, through an innovative thermal energy plant at Bridge of Weir, and its unique offering of Low Carbon Leather – the only of its kind in the world.

Such innovations within the group are delivered by the SLG Technology division, Glasgow Business Awards’ winner for both the Sustainable Development category and overall Most Outstanding Business of the Year for 2017.

“Glasgow has a wealth of strong and diverse businesses across all sectors, and that was reflected amongst the winners tonight.

“A huge well done SLG Technology Ltd for winning its Most Outstanding Business award. Congratulations to each of the winners tonight, and all those who were commended.”

Receiving the awards on behalf of SLG Technology, Environmental Director, Dr. Warren Bowden, said: “Sustainability is among the most important considerations in our business.

“It is true that we are recognised around the world, and we’re very proud of this, but we are even more proud of the fact that our achievements in sustainable development and business in general are derived from our headquarters right here in Renfrewshire.”
