Monaco reveal for Megane RS 24 | 05 | 2017
RENAULT WILL DEBUT its latest generation Megane RS at the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix this weekend, ahead of a full model launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. (Related: New Renault Captur starts at £15,355)
The new Renault Sport Megane, which will sport a special black and yellow livery in tune with the carmarker’s current Formula 1 entries, will be driven by current F1 driver Nico Hulkenberg. The unveiling coincides with Renault celebrating 40 years of F1 involvement.
While Renault is remaining tightlipped on its new front-wheel drive Megane RS, it’s expected the French car maker will lift the new 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbo from the Alpine A110 as a replacement for the existing 2.0-litre turbo. Don’t be surprised if the power output hits 300bhp.
Whatever powerplant is fitted under the bonnet, it will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox in the UK. It’s also like the new model will feature a rear-wheel-steering system; a similar setup already exists on the current hot model in the range, the Megane GT.
