Mazda2 gets refresh and GT models 12 | 05 | 2017

THE MAZDA2 RANGE has been refreshed, with the revised model on-sale now at Scottish dealers priced from £12,695. New GT and GT Sport models have also been added to the range with prices starting at £16,395. (Related: Roadtest — Mazda2 1.5 90PS SE-L Nav)

Across the range, all Mazda2 models now come equipped with Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control system, which works in a similar fashion to a torque vectoring unit, varying the engine’s torque across the front axle for more precise cornering.

The model’s steering has also been tweaked while the damper settings have been revised too in a bid to enhance the ride. The Japanese car manufacturer says body control has also been improved.

New interior fabrics, have been incorporated across the range, while there’s also a new steering wheel and noise insulating glass alongside extra sound deadening under the bonnet. Externally, new door mirrors feature, while SE-L and SE-L Nav cars now get LED front foglamps and folding mirrors as standard.

Joining the range are two new trim levels, badged GT and GT Sport. These stand out from the rest of the range by having LED headlights with daytime running lights, a body contrasting black rear lip spoiler on the top of the hatch, plus new 16in alloys.

The standard GT model is powered by an 89bhp 1.5-litre petrol engine, while the GT Sport gets the same unit but with output increased to 113bhp.

All cars above the entry level SE model now get a 7in colour touch screen infotainment display with smartphone connectivity and navigation, DAB radio and cruise control. The GT and GT Sport build on this with rear parking sensors, keyless entry and climate control air conditioning.
