LOTUS HAS LAUNCHED its new 2017 Elise. The new lightweight Sprint edition, 41kg lighter than the old car, goes on-sale at Scottish Lotus dealers next month price from £32,300.
Utilising more carbonfibre to trim weight to 798kg, in its most potent Sprint 220 supercharged 1.8-litre 217bhp form accelerates from standstill to 60mph in 4.1sec. The ‘standard’ 134bhp 1.6-litre Sprint does 0-60mph in 5.9s.
The 2017 model is distinguished by its updated front and rear bumpers. The car latest Lotus also gets new taillights and a revamped interior with alcantara and contrasting stitching.
There’s also an open gate gear lever, plus a new centre console and new instrument panel, while Bluetooth connectivity is available as an option.
At the top of the range sits the new Elise 250 Cup, which will land in Scottish dealers in May with a price tag of £47,400.
Focused even more on performance, the 250 Cup is 23kg lighter than its predecessor. However, tick all the right lightweight boxes on the options list, and it’s possible to shave a further 17kg off the car’s weight.
Louis won’t reveal performance figures for the Elise 250 Cup until closer to its on-sale date.
