McLaren launches 720S configurator 17 | 03 | 2017

McLAREN HAS LAUNCHED a new online configurator for its latest 720S to allows users to design their car online. But potential buyers should be warned; there are no prices attached to any of the options. (Related: Full details of all-new McLaren 720S)

We suspect it will only take a few clicks — say for instance 10-spoke Super-Lightweight wheels, racing seats or the ‘must-have’ vehicle lift system which will help the car cope with the UK’s bumpy roads — to take it well in excess of the standard price of £208,600. And that’s before you go anywhere near any optional carbonfibre parts.

Replacing the 650S in the Super Series, the new 720S is lighter, roomier, more aerodynamic and faster than its predecessor. Powered by a new twin turbocharged V8 4.0-litre engine, up from 3.8-litres, it develops a whopping 710bhp. That’s good enough for a 0-62mph time of 2.9secs, and it’ll carry you to a top speed of 212mph.

Even if you don’t inhabit the rarified financial world which would allow you to actually but the 720S, it’s worth just spending a  few minutes living out your fantasy and configuring your very own, bespoke car.
