2017 Volkswagen Touareg 23 | 03 | 2017

THE 2017 VOLKSWAGEN Touareg has been linked online. The image, displayed on a Facebook fan page, shows the full front-end styling, revealing its LED lighting more angular design. (Related: VW Spring Health Check)

Sitting directly above the latest Tiguan, the new five-seat Touareg has the similar look to its smaller sibling, but boasts more rounded wheel arches and a larger front grille.

There are more similarities to the Tiguan’s headlight design, with the latest Touareg image featuring horizontal structures on both its front and rear lights, as previewed by last year's Beijing Motor Show concept.

When it arrives in Scottish showrooms later this year, the 2017 Touareg will feature a range of conventional turbocharged four-cylinder diesel and petrol unit.

It’s also expected the range will ultimately include a plug-in hybrid version, which will pitch it directly against the Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine.

This VW powerplant — which produces 381bhp and 516lb/ft of torque, could run in full-electric mode for up to 50 miles, and return 94mpg in its most economical mode — was first seen in the Beijing concept.

All new Touareg models, as is the case with the current car, will be fitted with four-wheel drive as standard. It’s also expected the cabin will adopt a more luxurious feel.

VW has yet to confirm when the new model will be officially unveiled, but we expect pricing to remain close to that of the current model, meaning a starting price of around £45,000.
