New Rolls-Royce Phantom teased  20 | 07 | 2017

ROLLS-ROYCE HAS TEASED its next generation Phantom ahead of its full unveiling in London next week. The all-new eighth generation will go on sale from Scottish dealers in 2018. (Related: Interview with Scotland's Rolls-Royce dealership)

The next evolution of the marque’s flagship limousine is likely to take strongly after the design of the outgoing model, despite the lines being hidden in the dark teaser image.

The latest teaser comes in the wake of Rolls-Royce confirming plans to host an exhibition later this month which will see eight of the rarest and most iconic versions of its long living Phantom gather together.

The exhibition — called ‘The Eight Great Phantoms” — takes place on July 27.

Largely unchanged since 2003, the new model will arrive alongside the new Cullinan, which the brand hopes will capitalise on the luxury SUV sector and rival the likes of Bentley’s Bentayga.

The latest Phantom will build on the advanced entertainment and safety features first seen in the most recent BMW 7 Series. The interior will, not surprisingly, retain Rolls-Royce’s unmatched interior quality.

Rolls-Royce — which is continuing to keep its corporate lips sealed in relation to the new Phantom’s details — is expected to utilise its renowned V12 engine layout in some form within the range.

However, it’s not known whether the company will follow the industry’s trend of using downsized turbocharged engines. It is though believed the new range will include a plug-in hybrid powertrain version.

Demand for the current Phantom remains strong, with all fifty of the final Phantom Coupe, and Drophead Coupe ‘Zenith Collection’ cars being snapped up.
